My journey began in 2019 when at my heaviest I weighed 186 kg. At this point I faced more and more challenges due to my weight. Stares, prejudices and stigmatization were only a small but painful part of it.
This gave me the feeling of having to "hide" in clothes that were too big and always looking over my shoulders. I had a job that was hectic, which led to simple solutions in my diet. The choice fell on food that often contained higher amounts of fat and calories. The weight was also accordingly.
At one point I had so much pain in my knee that I had to change the way I lived. I started small by going for walks in the woods and fields, then on to the gym. At a training center you can also meet these so-called looks, which I experienced myself.
This gave me a feeling of not being good enough to workout at the gym. Fortunately, this gave me the courage and strength to continue. I had to disprove all these prejudices, that you had to look a certain way, or weigh "that much" to be able to fit into a fitness centre.
It's not about how you look or what you have in your luggage. We all have an equal right to exercise at a fitness centre. We are all there to achieve the same goal and that should be good enough.
At Feel24, I got help from Personal trainer Stian Erik Rollstad to get started with strength training and diet. This meant that, in addition to losing weight, I increased my muscle mass and gained much better health. We met approx. 1 hour a week and I had a tailored training program that I did the other days during the week on my own.
It felt good to have someone who pushed me, cheered me on and, not least, had faith in me. The training program and dietary guidance were adjusted over time and adapted to me. The body got stronger and stronger and I finished in 2022 with a weight of 104 kg.
I have never regretted for a second the choice to use a Personal Trainer and I still train with PT Stian today. One thing I've learned and stick with, is that if I have faith in myself, I can do anything if I want to!
